Marufa
Marufa, a Bangladeshi woman with three children, is struggling financially and lacks the courage to act. When Islamic Relief Foundation started promoting Marufa's neighborhood. An underserved community that advocates for women's empowerment and economic development She was chosen by her community, then she received financial management training before being chosen to lead a self-help programme that educates families on income-generating activities and provides each family with a non-refundable loan. Marufa is now the supervisor of six self-help groups with a total of 180 members, and she works in the fisheries department as well. She bought land on which to cultivate rice. She claims to be financially secure now.

Angela, had been in an abusive relationship with her husband after his mother died, suffered verbal abuse and physical abuse, choked, and shot by her husband. Now, she is contributing to the IRIS domestic violence centre actively and raising 4 children as well. Read more
