Alberta Council of Women's Shelters 

ACWS is a list of shelters from over 40 partners with 50+ shelters. A 24/7 hotline is available at 1-866-331-3933.  

Shelter Safe

An online resource for women and children experiencing violence or abuse that allows a person to find shelters in their area along with 24 hour phone numbers. It is an initiative of Women's Shelters Canada, which is a network of associations in each province and territory representing over 450 shelters nation wide. 

A Safe Place

Offers a variety of programs for women such as community outreach, emergency shelter in Strathcona County, transportation, crisis intervention, safety specialists, child care and more. 24/7 crisis line available at 780-464-7233.​

Women's Emergency Accommodation Centre

WEAC provides emergency shelter for women struggling financially or at risk of homelessness. Registration begins at 7 AM and renews daily. Register at 780-423-5302

Lurana Shelter

A first-stage, emergency shelter that provides emergency services, and advocacy, counselling, and child programming. the shelter joined Catholic Social Services in 2021. Call the 24 hour crisis line at 780-424-5875.

La Salle Shelter

A second stage shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence and transitioning from front-line supports. 

Affordable accommodations and other supports are given for up to one year. The shelter opened in 1988 by the Grey Nuns Hospital, and joined CSS in 2009.

Kindred House

A safe space for women, transgender, and two-spirit individuals, over 18 years of age,

that are involved in sex work. Respite, meals, and community resources are made available for individuals in a non-judgemental environment.

WIN House

Operate 3 shelters that provide safety, support, relief, and resources for abuse victims 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Shelter locations are kept private for safety of victims.

Nisa Homes

Shelter, necessities, casework, child programs, financial, mental health, spiritual, language, immigration, and other supports for women and children experiencing domestic violence, poverty, homelessness, or seeking asylum.

Wings of Providence

Assisting women and children fleeing domestic violence by providing safe spaces. Secure, long-term housing and numerous support services with a trauma informed approach.

Financial Empowerment Program

Program offered by the city of Edmonton for low-income individuals. Social workers work with community partners by connecting people to resources, education, and other information sources to help low-income persons reach financial stability.

Women Building Futures

They offer a variety of programs for women seeking economic stability. Programs offered

include employment and training classes, success coaching, financial aid for students, supports for graduates, and safe/affordable housing. Tailored supports are available for Indigenous women as well.

The Edmonton Community Legal Center provides free legal advice and representation to the general public. Individuals and families with legal difficulties in the key segments are assisted by the Center: Landlord and Tenant; Employment/Wrongful Dismissal; Small Claims; Income Support Advocacy; Human Rights; Debt; Immigration.

St. Francis of Assisi Women's Institutions LINC is Alberta's only Women's LINC programme. St. Francis has a great opportunity that provide special interest women's training courses and activities such as women's sanitation and wellbeing, cooking, sewing, and embroidery.
